Political analyst Martin Andati now claims that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is deliberately dodging the presidency.
This comes only days after the former Vice President proposed constitutional changes to allow president Uhuru Kenyatta to run for a third term after 2022.
Speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi Show Monday morning, the commentator termed this a plan by Kalonzo to avoid vying for the presidency the same year as he had earlier declared.
"It's clear that he is not planning to vie for the presidency and is now seeking avenues to cover up for his change of mind," he said.
However, Andati said that Kalonzo is not to blame for his backing off, adding that it has finally dawned on him that he is not ready to go for the seat and is unable to win it.
He observed that Kalonzo is most likely unfit when it comes to matters resources needed for the contest, and this might have pushed him into retreating him.
"He has realized that he is not well prepared and probably lacks the funds needed for the campaigns. He also lacks a firm support base and will most likely lose should he proceed and vie," he added.
Kalonzo has since reemerged to deny having endorsed Uhuru for a third term.
