This happened in Bonchari, Kisii County after the woman who is a businesswoman at Daraja Market came and requested that the coffin be opened and started talking to it after greetings, telling the corpse not to haunt her as she did not kill her.

"Mama Jane, as you go rest in peace. Do not come back to haunt me as I did not kill you,” The woman said after she greeted the corpse by shaking her hand.

The locals were paranoid calling her a witch since she has been doing the same in many burials. Others wanted to beat her up while some wanted to burn her. They ran after her but were prevented by the area Chief Ronald Nyabayo who came to her rescue.

While addressing people who attended the funeral, the chief condemned the actions saying people should be keen on what actions they take and what they say as it may turn against them in a wrong way.

“Let us be keen on what we do and what we say as this can turn against us. The tongue is a small organ but can bring about massive destruction.” The chief said.
