The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Hajji has called for the speedy conclusion of investigations in the controversial Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
In a press statement released by the DPP on Tuesday evening, he acknowledged the public anxiety over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal and vowed to end the menace.
"In the discharge of his responsibilities in the public interest and in response to palpable anxiety regarding the expose on the proposed Kimwarer and Error Dams, the DPP wishes to inform the public as follows;
"Investigations into the facts surrounding the two projects are at an advanced stage,
"It is acknowledged that involved are complex and require delving into a web of convoluted financial transactions spanning a considerable period and spread across borders and continents..." read the statement as posted on Twitter.
The Arror and Kimwarer dams scandals brought up controversial debate on the beneficiaries of the proceeds of corruption.
He called upon Kenyans to remain calm as the DCI are up to the task of completing the investigations since it is like a conveyer belt.
"The DPP confirms that he has requested utmost speed in the conclusion of these inquiries so that he may have the opportunity to study the files and decide, independently and objectively, the appropriate steps to take, in connection with information he shall have received," added the statement.
Top government officials have been linked to the scandal amid the intensified war against corruption.
