Most parents endeavour to provide the best for their children. Although every family has a set of rules that guide them, parents are always strict to ensure their children are disciplined and respectful. However, no human being is perfect and parents also make mistakes at times.
Here are some of the mistakes most parents regret making.
1. Failing to listen to their child's point of view
Children who grow up in families where they are not allowed to speak out and share their opinions on different matters, feel neglected and not loved. This makes them grow up being insecure. Let your children share their opinions and discuss with them the best way out rather than limiting them in speech and expression.
2. Being absent in most of the child's life
Some children who spend most of their lives without parental presence lack self-confidence and this makes them unhappy in life. This also makes them feel isolated and some end up being less sociable when they grow up.
3. Following other people's advice on how to treat their children
Some parents seek advice from other people on how to handle their children. Some of the people who might offer you advice on how to raise your kids may not have your children's best interest at heart. Sometimes they unknowingly give you bad advice. It's ok to listen to the advice but ensure you only accept good advice that will bring out the best in your kids.
