Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is in trouble following increased gambling businesses in his home turf.
Parents from Sare primary school in Moticho ward, South Mugirango claimed that students and teachers from the institution are notorious gamblers.
"Teachers have been training pupils on how to gamble instead of teaching teaching them. Matiang'i must intervene to ensure the teachers are transferred before the future of our kids is spoilt," said an angry parent Celestine Okeyo.
The parents attributed the school's poor performance in national exams to lack of seriousness among teachers.
"There are three well known teachers in the school who are real gamblers. They never go to class and their work is to sit at the boardroom to bet. We need action to be taken for the sake of improving performance in our schools," noted James Omambia.
Henry Onderi, area education officer said the matter is being investigated.
"We are following up the matter to know the truth. Already a letter seeking the transfer of the mentioned teachers has been sent to Teachers Service Commission," Onderi said.
He however, challenged Matiang'i to ensure gambling businesses in Gusii region are shut down.
