President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly rubbished plans by an opposition senator to impeach his deputy William Ruto.
Sources who attended a meeting the President held with his deputy and Ruto’s Harambee Annex office on Tuesday said the head of state dismissed the plans as hot air.
The Standard quoted its sources saying that Uhuru dismissed the planned impeachment bit by ODM against Ruto as nonsensical and sought support from the leaders in Parliament for the implementation of the big four agenda.
“The President looked jovial but was concerned that the unity of the ruling party was not at its best and needed to be jealously guarded. He insisted on a unity inside Parliament and outside,” the source added.
The body language of the two leaders on Tuesday was reminiscent of their earlier days in office in 2013 where they displayed bromance as they could even wear matching clothes.
In one of the pictures released by PSCU after the Annex office meeting, the two leaders are seen sitting in a friendly manner with their coats removed as they chat.
The leader of majority in the national assembly Aden Duale, who was invited to the lunch meeting, was also upbeat about the meeting.
“The political landscape of this country is going to change after (today’s) meeting,” he told journalists who had camped outside Harambee House Annex.
