There was drama on Saturday evening at Gusii stadium after two community policing engaged in a fist fight over Sh500.
Witnesses said the two, Isaiah Ogeto and Lawrence Omwoyo were given Sh500 to share equally but, Ogeto decided to pocket the money without giving Omwoyo his share.
“Ogeto and Omwoyo were given Sh500 by a man they rescued from a beating by angry bodaboda riders. Ogeto pocketed the money instead of sharing the money equally with Omwoyo this angered him and a fight ensued,” said Victor Makori.
Makori said it took the intervention of other community policing officers to stop the 2 from fighting.
Area community policing Chairman, James Okeiga condemned the incident and said the two showed a bad example by engaging in a physical fight in public.
“It is shameful for Ogeto and Omwoyo to fight over Sh500. We intervened and stopped them from fighting before we caned them thoroughly,” he said.
Okeiga said the two were suspended for two weeks.
He warned other community policing officials against unnecessary fights.
“We should lead by example. Officials who will be found fighting will not be spared by the law,” he said.
