Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pleaded with Embakasi South residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for Julius Mawathe in the April 5 by-election.
Kalonzo says Mawathe is best suited to continue serving as the constituency’s Member of Parliament.
Speaking when he toured the constituency on Thursday, the Wiper Party leader said Mawathe has the interests of the people at heart.
“He is a visionary leader who if given chance to continue leading will push for development,” Kalonzo said.
The former Vice President asked the residents not to listen to the propaganda being fueled by Mawathe’s political rivals.
Kalonzo who was in the company of Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula promised to put up a heavy campaign for Mawathe.
He asked Wiper politicians to back the candidate’s campaign ahead of the by-election.
Mawathe is seeking to retain the seat that the Supreme Court nullified last year.
Political analysts argue that the by-election is a two-horse race between Mawathe and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party candidate Irshad Sumra.
