Makadara MP George Aladwa has called upon all politicians to join President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga in their Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

The initiative was born in March last year, after the two leaders who were formerly sworn rivals buried the hatchet, reached out to each other and agreed to collaborate going forward.

But their joint moves have been facing some opposition from a section of the ruling Jubilee Party politicians who have been unable to come to terms with Raila's entry into the picture, with Aladwa now warning that it could cost them.

Speaking on Saturday, the close ally of the former Prime Minister likened the union to Noah's ark, saying that it could soon transform into a political union that could end up swiping across the nation in the 2022 elections.

He added that the opposed elements could with time find themselves out once the union is completely established, which could see them face the music in 2022.

"Hii handshake ni kama Safina ya Noah. Ikifika 2022 itafungwa kisha watu waliobaki nje wabaki wakilia na kisema heri wangejua(the handshake is like the Noah's ark. The doors will soon be closed they will be left regretting)," he said.

Aladwa was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi political show Saturday morning.

Most of the politicians opposed to the handshake are forces close to Deputy President William Ruto, some of whom are reading malice in it.

However, both Raila and Uhuru have repeatedly come out to clear the sir on the issue, noting that their union has nothing to do with either current or future political issues.
