Locals of Kenyenya Sub County in Kisii County are mourning the death of a form four candidate who was murdered in cold blood by unknown people and her body dumped in a fishpond.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief Douglas Sobei said the late Elvinah Moracha went missing on Sunday evening only for her body to be discovered by a herder who was attending his cattle on Monday evening.
"Elvinah left home on Sunday evening to the shop and never returned. Her parents launched a search for her but, in vain," said Sobei.
The administrator said the herder, Duke Obwocha spotted the body in the fishpond and alerted residents who arrived and retrieved it.
"Her body was found dumped in a fish body 100 meters away from her home. Investigations are going on to apprehend the killers behind the brutal murder," he said.
The chief urged members of the public to cooperate with police to ensure the culprits are brought to book without delay.
The body was taken to Kenyenya Sub County hospital morgue.
