Confirming the incident, area chief Jared Onkendu said the deceased Charles Nyabuto quarrelled with his friend at a funeral on Saturday night.

"Nyabuto attended a funeral at his neighbour's home where he lost some money. He demanded his money back from one of his friend at the funeral in vain," said Onkendu.

The administrator said the deceased after he failed to get his money threatened to take his own life.

"The late returned to his home on the wee hours of Sunday and threatened to commit suicide because his money was stolen. Family members didn't take his threats seriously," said the chief.

Mr. Onkendu said his wife left to church with his kids and left Nyabuto at home only to return to find his body dangling from an avocado tree a few meters away from their house.

"Nyabuto's body was discovered by his wife. I was called to the homestead to witness the incident. Police officers collected his body and took it to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary," he added.

He assured that probe has started to establish who stole the deceased money at the funeral.

The chief added that the amount of money which was stolen is yet to be revealed.
