Former US President Barack Obama who rode against the tide to become the world's superpower's first black head of State has confirmed his Kenyan and South African tour.
Obama on Friday in a tweet said he is happy to travel back to Africa, the continent where his father was born and specifically in Kenya where he traces his roots.
"This week, I am traveling to Africa for the first time since I left office – a continent of wonderful diversity, thriving culture, and remarkable stories," the tweet from the former Illinois Senator read.
He is expected to land in Nairobi on Monday, July 16 where he will hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga before flying to K'Ogelo in Siaya County where he will launch Sauti Kuu, an NGO run by his sister Dr Auma Obama.
From K'Ogelo, he will fly back to Nairobi and connect to South Africa where he is expected to deliver a keynote address at a public lecture in Johannesburg.
Most of his followers on Twitter lauded him for his decision to visit Africa terming it as an opportunity for the world to recognise the investment opportunities in the continent that is now an emerging business zone.
