Migori governor Okoth Obado was arrested because of pressure piles on the DPP, DCI from politicians, Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said.
Maangi said Obado is being taken in circles in court because some politicians are not happy with his political influence.
"Obado's political enemies are the reason he was arrested and being denied bond. It is so shameful that some people are celebrating his woes," he said.
The Deputy Governor urged leaders to desist from politicizing crucial matters in this country.
"The charges Obado is facing should not be politicized because they continue hurting the family of the late Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
"Politicians must focus on serving the electorates and stop concentrating on issues which can't add anything to their performance record," he stated.
Maangi urged female college and university students to stop engaging in illicit love affairs with married men in the exchange of money.
"Ladies studying in high learning institutions should put their energies in education and not chasing old men, 'sponsors' to have their financial needs met," he added.
