Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka now says that Western Kenya is suffering from poor leadership.
Speaking on Radio Citizen on Wednesday morning, the former Bungoma Governor revealed that the region is ailing from among others, internal personal political battles.
He claimed that a section of area leaders are out to satisfy themselves at the expense of the citizens, hence the unending political woes and rivalry.
This, he said, is evident in the re-emerging Luhya unity push led by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula.
‘’Haya mambo ya political unity imekuwa ya kuhepahepa ukweli kwa sababu watu wanajitakia makuu (people are using the Luhya unity campaign to benefit themselves),’’ he said.
He added that a silent tug of war is also ongoing, as new and veteran politicians try to outdo each other, resulting in enmity instead of cooperation for the citizens’ well-being.
‘’Kuna watu ambao wako na kimbelembele ya uongozi ilhali wengine wanadharau wenzao eti wamekuja juzi (some are scrambling for leadership while the other group is overlooking the new team),’’ he added.
He advised that the region has a good opportunity to realise its bid to lead the nation but can only do that through positive cooperation.
