Deported lawyer Miguna Miguna has vowed never to reapply for the Kenyan passport, saying that the one the government seized from him was still valid.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Miguna said forcing him to apply for the new passport is an act which is contravention of his rights.
"I cannot apply for something I already have. To yell that I should apply for either is to perpetuate impunity," he said.
He attacked those 'yelling' at him to follow the governments directive of reapplication, adding that the state was ordered to issue him with a new passport after they 'destroyed' his initial one.
"Those shouting at me about applying for a new Kenyan passport must be told, firmly, that the passport the State unlawfully seized and confiscated from me on February 6, 2018 had not expired
"Those who took it unlawfully have been Ordered by the High Court to simply return it and have also been ordered to issue me with a new passport without any need for me to apply,"he added
On February 6th,2018 the government seized the lawyers passports after it alleged that the barrister had renounced his citizenship, a move Miguna challenged in court was given reprieve when the High Court through Justice Chacha Mwita ruled in his favour.
The lawyer has since been communicating to his NRM supporters through the social media saying he remains,"focused, disciplined and fearless".
