With his longtime political nemesis Ochillo Ayacko assured to fly the Orange Democratic Movement flag, Otieno has maintained that he is still in the race and that he is shopping for a party to use as his political vehicle to springboard his political ambitions.

“I am still shopping for a political party. I am almost getting one so that I can launch my campaigns by latest next week,” the former lawmaker was quoted by the Standard.

With the rest of the aspirants who had declared their interest for the seat going mute, it remains to be seen who else will face off with Ayacko who is seen as the favourite to fill the vacant seat left following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello.

The former Minister is among the aspirants who protested ODM’s decision to give Ayacko direct nomination in an exercise they deem undemocratic.

Area Governor Okoth Obado has also been at the center of firing salvos at the ODM leadership which he claims is imposing leaders on the electorate. But in a swift response, the party has warned the ‘traitors’ of dire consequences.
