It all started by a vehicle, which he uses as taxi in Migori town, belonging to his boss, Caspal Obiero.

Locked in Keroka police station, Mr. Obiero was charged with aiding murder of Sharon Otieno, the Rongo University student.

At Keroka, Obiero is said to have conceded that indeed he asked Mr. Gombe to link with Michael Oyamo, another PA to Governor Okoth Obado but denied being involved in the murder.

At Nairobi, the prosecution is planning to have him taken from the Nyamira based station to face charges along with his boss.

But Gombe, a quiet man now in the police cells, is said to be popular among taxi clients due to his keenness in driving.

"I know him and he has driven that Toyota Fielder for some months. Most visitors like his services.

"Honestly, I was shocked to hear that he's connected to this clandestine murder," a journalist said in confidence.

In Oyugis, Gombe admitted that indeed he drove the car to the crime scene unknowingly.

To make him a potential witness, detectives agreed to charge him with conspiracy to commit murder and could soon be turned into State witness.

His evidence, the Standard reported, corroborated with those of the detectives that established Mr. Obado was at the crime scene contrary to his statement at Kisumu DCI.

Whether Gombe will survive the murder case, only time shall tell.
