Keumbu residents have faulted Kisii Governor James Ongwae saying he has become negligent after winning the hotly contested 2017 gubernatorial elections for a second time.
They frustrated residents say they are yet to see any tangible development one year on after the elections yet the Governor promised massive development.
Keumbu traders said that before the polls, Ongwae addressed them promising to develop the market if they would consider him for the second term.
However, since he assumed the office, they say nothing has been done to the area, making the environment unfriendly for businesses to thrive on.
As recorded by the Local radio station (Kisii FM) the traders were complaining of heaps of garbage in the market and high tax levies imposed on them by Ongwae's administration.
They also complained of lacking basic amenities such as public toilets in the area.
"Sometimes we sell one sack of maize grains for the whole week. Consequently, paying tax for the whole week. This results in low profits while the environment is not conducive to transact business. There are no washrooms in the area," one of the traders said as reported by Kisii FM.
"Governor Ongwae, you promised us development and we entrusted you with our votes hoping for developing in the region, something that has not happened yet. Act swiftly and help us," Naomy Bosibori added.
