Deputy President William Ruto has once again launched a scathing attack on opposition leader Raila Odinga over his recent remarks associating the DP to graft.
Addressing mourners in Lifunga Kobiero village in Ugenya, Siaya county on Saturday, Raila claimed that Ruto has been using graft proceeds to impress the church in terms of gifts.
He added that the very same funds bought a car which the DP gave Kisumu Catholic Archbishop Philip Anyolo during his installation in Kisumu on January 12.
But in a rejoinder on Sunday, the DP rubbished the claims, noting that the Mitsubishi Pajero was bought by funds contributed by himself, President Uhuru Kenyatta and other Christian leaders.
He termed Raila an anti-Christian man who is opposed to any initiative aimed at benefitting the church.
"The master of deceit as always is spewing desperate lies. The car gift was bought by Christian leaders including UK and myself at the request of the chair of Catholic MPs.
"Understandably Empowering the church offends magicians and the evil spirits they worship. Shetani ashindwe!" said the DP in a tweet.
In his speech during the burial of former Senior Chief Daudi Owino, Raila added that the car has since been rejected by Pope Francis who has ordered the Bishop to give it back.
