Wife to the Berlin Marathon winner Eliud Kipchoge, Grace Sugut has expressed joy after her husband set a new world record in the marathon.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday after the race, Sugut said it was through hard work and determination that the husband hard emerged victorious.
The happily looking Sugut said he did not expect Kipchoge to set a new world record.
"First of all, I want to congratulate my husband for winning the Berlin Marathon and also God for enabling him to win. I knew he could win but not breaking the world record," she said.
Sugut who had joined hundreds of Eldoret locals in watching the race at the county LED TV erected in the CBD noted that Kipchoge is a humble and quiet man who takes his training seriously and treats everyone equally.
"He always wakes up early every morning for training and it's through the hard work that he has emerged the winner," she noted.
Kipchoge's wife further revealed the kind of food her husband likes eating saying; "He likes taking ugali and mursik, this is where the energy comes from."
Kipchoge clocked 2.01.39 to set a new world record that was previously being held by another Kenyan Dennis Kimeto.
