Kiang’ani says contrary to Ruto’s allies’ believe that Raila Odinga is out to redeem his political star and run for president in 2022, the NASA leader is out to leave a legacy and quit the political scene at the same time with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Apart from leaving a legacy as a statesman who unified the country, Kisiang’ani observes, Raila also wants to revenge on Ruto.

“He (Mr Ruto) has twice denied Mr Odinga that chance and for a politician, this would a very fulfilling revenge,” Kisiang’ani said.

Raila almost won the presidency in 2007 when Ruto backed him. The election results were, however, disputed leading to chaos.

Kibaki and Raila formed a grand coalition government.

In 2013 and 2017, Ruto teamed up with Uhuru winning the top seat.

The two leaders have been facing off since then. The recent move by Raila to make peace with President Kenyatta through the March 9 handshake rattled Ruto’s camp.
