The CS had promised farmers that they would be paid beginning October 1st, but the funds are yet to be channelled to their respective bank accounts.

On Friday, Wamalwa announced that the government had released Sh1.4 billion to pay farmers who delivered their maize to NCPB.

Led by Kimutai Kolum, the farmers said they are tired with governments' rhetorics and false promises every now and that don't materialize.

"It's sad that despite devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa promising to pay us our dues by Monday, up to now, we have not received even a single cent. Why is the government taking us for a ride?" lamented Kimutai in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

"Surely how do they expect us to survive without funds, is this government really ready to deal with farmers issues?" he wondered.

The farmers further, urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene for them to be paid their dues without any delays.

"President Kenyatta please save us from this mess since we overwhelmingly voted for you and it's time for you to pay back by listening to our cry," said another farmer.

Maize farmers in the North Rift region say NCPB owe them over Sh3 billion for the produce they supplied since last year.
