Ruto is the only Kalenjin politician who has fearlessly fought for the community since he entered the game of politics.
He took a bullet for the Kalenjin community when he was taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) based at The Hague over crimes against humanity following the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
Ruto didn’t hesitate but defended the community after accusations that he masterminded the killing of thousands in the Rift Valley. The Kalenjin kingpin was abandoned by those he stood with including former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who has since joined President Uhuru Kenyatta.
To prove their love for DP Ruto, the Kalenjin community woke up very early in the morning in 2013 to vote for President Kenyatta to ensure that Ruto was part of the government.
The Kalenjin community love Ruto to the last herdsman in the village. Ruto has said that he has what it takes to rise to power when that time comes. He will be a force to reckon with in 2022 as he seeks to become the Head of State.
