Renowned columnist, cartoonist and social and political commentator Patrick Gathara has weighed in on the alleged audio recording of Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju and former Limuru Member of Parliament George Nyanja.
In a tweet on Sunday, Gathara cited the alleged audio recording as an example of the contempt that Kenyan politicians have for the post-election victims (PEV).
He went on to claim that the politicians harboured a contempt towards the Kenyan media and were keen to exploit its "air-headedness."
"Dear Kenyans, The Tuju-Nyanja recording is an example of the contempt of our politicians - contempt for PEV victims on whose graves they want to dance; contempt for the electorate whose outrage they wish to stoke; and contempt for KE media, whose airheadedness they can exploit, " Gathara's tweeted.
This comes amid tensions in the governing Jubilee Party over the audio recording with politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto calling for Tuju's ouster.
The Kiambaa fire tragedy that claimed the lives of women and children who had run to the church for shelter was discussed in the alleged audio recording.
Speaking in Mt Elgon on Saturday Deputy President Dr William Ruto called on party officials not to be misused to pursue political agendas that could open old wounds.
