Ahmed Kolosh, a candidate in the upcoming Wajir West by-election has urged his colleagues to conduct peaceful campaigns.
Kolosh, who ditched the Raila Odinga-led ODM Party and joined Jubilee Party wants politicians eyeing the parliamentary seat to commit to preaching peace and unity.
Speaking to journalists in Wahir Town on Monday, Kolosh said there is no point for candidates to engage in hateful campaigns, chaos and name-calling.
He noted that peace and unity is what matters most despite their different political vision, agenda and ideologies.
"It is important for us to preach peace and unity even as we sell our agenda to the people,” he said.
The former MP said that the by-election is not matter of life and death.
He asked law enforcement agencies to beef up security as campaigns for the by-election start.
Kolosh lost the parliamentary seat after the Supreme Court nullified his election on grounds it was not free and fair.
The Jubilee candidate has exuded confidence of retaining the seat in the April 25 by-election.
Professor Yusuf Elmi, Abdirahman Mohamed and Daudi Mohhamud are among candidates contesting in the by-election.
Professor Elmi is flying the ODM ticket, Abdirahman is contesting on a KANU ticket while Muhammad is vying on a Ford Kenya ticket.
