According to the MPs who are presently allied to Deputy President William Ruto, Raila, who most Coast residents voted for during the August 8 general election has neglected the region and should not expect any support from there again.

The MPs, Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Ali Mbogo (Kisauni), Michael Kingi (Magarini), Ken Chonga (Kilifi South) and Teddy Mwambire (Ganze) on Wednesday said the recent nomination of new ambassadors by President Uhuru Kenyatta clearly shows the region has been sidelined, blaming Raila for the development.

"We overwhelmingly voted for him last year not knowing that he had his own agenda," Baya who spoke on behalf of the MPs said as quoted by local Swahili newspaper Taifa Leo.

"We no longer recognize ODM. We will move on with our plan to form our own party which will bring together Coast region residents. He (Raila) met the president to fulfil his own interests," he added.

Among those Uhuru recently nominated as ambassadors include Raila's cousin Nicholas Oginga. Another close ally of the former Prime Minister who landed an ambassadorial position was politician Ochilo Ayacho.

The MPs claim no one from the Coast region was nominated for any position when Uhuru made the announcement six days ago.
