After months of cold war, Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Monday finally met for the first time with his party leader Raila Odinga face to face, an indication that after all the two could have ironed their differences.
Photos of Mr Obado, a second term ODM governor, were circulated on several social media forums by one of Migori County communication team official Lisa Wema, who said the two are meeting at Grand Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu to discuss issues surrounding ailing sugar sector.
"His Excellency Zachary Okoth Obado, has this morning joined His Excellency the Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga and a host of other leaders from the Sugarcane growing areas, after the promising discussions between the Prime Minister and the CS for Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjiri, on revetalisation of the Sugarcane sector.
"They had agreed to have a retreat between the leadership from the Ministry and other leaders from the Sugarcane growing areas in Kisumu at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, to concertise the next course of action in sector," she wrote.
In September last year, Mr Obado was arrested over links to the death of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno, and was subsequently charged with murder of Ms Otieno and her unborn child at Kodera Forest, few kilometers from Homa Bay Town.
Mr Obado directly linked his woes to Mr Odinga and the ODM party, further supporting Mr Eddy Oketch for Migori senatorial by-election which was eventually won by ODM's Ochillo Ayacko after a hard fight with Oketch.
And in October, High Court Judge Jessie Lessit released Obado on tough conditions among them being banned from coming anywhere 20KM to Homa Bay border, surrendering his travel documents and Sh5 million cash bail.
Months later, Obado was arrested for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms. He would be released later. For the last few months, Obado has been working closely with Deputy President William Ruto, despite being a life member of ODM party, further rattling Mr Odinga's team.
