A rare incident was experienced at Chebilat on Friday evening after a house help was caught red-handed with two sacks of stolen maize.
Confirming the incident, area community policing chairman Aching'a Mosioma said the suspect Hyline Omoro had stolen maize from her boss.
"The suspect sneaked the two sacks of maize from her employer's cereals store and she had already contacted boda boda riders who were to help her take the maize to a local market," said Mosioma.
Mr. Mosioma noted that the suspect's employer was not at home when the suspect sneaked the maize from the store.
"One of the boda boda riders she had contacted alerted us and we stormed the homestead immediately where we found the suspect packing her belongings ready to leave," he noted.
He said angry neighbors descended on her with kicks and blows before she was surrendered to police officers.
"She was taken to Keroka police station with the stolen maize to be used as an exhibit to charge her in court on Monday. House helps fond of stealing from their employers should learn from Hyline's experience," he said.
Mr. Mosioma challenged residents hiring housemaids to conduct a thorough family background information about them.
