Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has promised to connect Wote town and its environs to free high-speed Wi-Fi.
Speaking during an event graced by Kenya Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd (KETRACO) board chairman James Rege in Wote on Monday, Kibwana said the move to improve power supply in the area will be of big help to the locals.
"I want to thank KETRACO for greatly helping Kenyans and especially my people of Makueni access cheaper electricity. This commodity was a rare dream to many people but now it's around, courtesy of KETRACO and the Kenyan government," Kibwana said.
Kibwana said his administration will partner with the Wote Sub-station to tap into its high-speed fiber-optic network to supply free Wi-Fi to the residents.
The event to launch the energizing of electricity transmission was held at Wote power sub-station.
"Quality of power supply in Makueni is set to improve tremendously with energizing of 132 KV Sultan Hamid-Wote transmission line and 132/33 KV of Wote substation," said Rege.
