Speaking on Thursday, Matungulu assistant county commissioner James Nyengenye said that bodaboda operators are likely to interact with criminals knowingly or unknowingly.

Due to this, Nyengenye urged bodaboda operators to contact the police whenever they suspect they could be ferrying criminals.

"Though we have been with them in many meetings, they have failed to speak out about the crimes happening in the area.

"Some of them are even used to ferry drugs and other stolen properties," he said.

He urged bodaboda riders to be mindful of clients they carry at night, adding that the riders should report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

"Nothing can succeed without a peaceful environment, let's work together, guys know who you carry. If you keep quiet about an incident you suspect could be criminal, maybe next time you could be the victim," he said.

He noted that his office is always open for anyone wishing to inquire, and report anything concerning security in the area.
