Hardly a month after Raila Odinga met Riek Machar in South Africa, the main players in the grinding South Sudan political crisis have reached an agreement that may finally bring peace.
President Salva Kiir and his rival Riek Machar met in Addis Ababa at a closed-door meeting on June 20 in Ethiopian Prime Minister's office.
An arrangement that may see Riek Machar made vice president is being fleshed out.
Riek Machar fled South Sudan after a very public falling out with the country's president, claiming that his life was in grave danger.
Issues at the centre of South Sudan's strife were discussed.
The development which has opened up the prospect of peace has elicited mixed reactions.
This is what the residents of Garissa had to say:
"This is a testament to Raila Odinga's diplomatic skills. I am very proud of him and this is a win for him," Reche Amad says.
"It seems that Riek Machar saw the sense in Raila Odinga's words as evidenced by his decision to meet President Kiir," Sado Kuno says.
"Odinga brought credibility to the table. This is very encouraging," Kamal Abdi says.
"Raila Odinga should be given a Nobel Peace Prize," Fatuma Uno says.
"May Allah give the people of South Sudan everlasting peace," Galgalo Ibrahim.
