The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has disclosed having reached out to opposition leader Raila Odinga with an alliance proposal.
According to the party Secretary General Nick Salat, the independence party made the move as it seeks to form alliances ahead of the 2022 general elections.
Speaking during a funeral service in Kisumu on Tuesday, Salat said that the former Prime Minister has expressed his willingness to join hands with the independence bloc.
The African Union Special Envoy for Infrastructure Development doubles up as the opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.
Salat noted that the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi-led party is still doing in-house consultations before going all out to form alliances.
"We are still discussing seeking electoral alliances ahead of the next General Election," he said, according to the Standard.
Salat added that the party is also seeking to bring on board Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.
This, however, comes at a time when Mudavadi has maintained that he will be in the race for the presidency, a post-Moi is also rumoured to be eyeing.
Raila, though silent on his 2022 plans, is also expected to be warming up for his fifth shot at the top seat, as has been declared by his allies.
