Despite their deteriorating relationship in the public, Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are said to be in 'serious and structured' talks.

A close aide of the DP, who works with his intelligence team, says the two are evaluating possible ways they can work together.

"In public they may seem to be sworn enemies but in private they seem to be in good terms. They are evaluating the best way they can work together. This could take some time but it would shock may of you," he said in confidence.

Raila, a seasoned politician, is not a stranger in pulling surprises in the political arena. In March, in one of the unlikely moves, he backed his political nemesis Uhuru Kenyatta.

And according to the source, the two could be ironing out where things went wrong, following Raila's latest appointment to the AU.

"Some of these talks are being steered by people who used to work with them. For now I can't tell the stage they are," added.

Seasoned Borabu politician Patrick Osero said the two can still work together, adding that they are not enemies.

"These guys do talk and in politics you can't rule that one out. I am not aware of the talks but they can still work together."

Ever since shifting his focus to Uhuru, Raila has caused jitters within Jubilee, with Ruto accusing him of plotting to kick him out.
