Three men have escaped death and landed a 25 years jail terms each after being convicted for robbery with violence.
Appearing before Mumias Principal Magistrate Terry Odera on April 8, 2016, Marcus Shisia, Saidi Atako and Vincent Okumu were found found guilty of three accounts of the crime.
This was after the the prosecution side convinced the court that they robbed Alexander Angona Sh37,500 and other personal belongings on September 3, 2015.
The court also found them guilty of robbing Nicholas Otuma of money and goods amounting to Sh7,300.
In another account, they were found guilty of robbing Dickson Otsieno of goods valued at Sh3,150, while armed with crude weapons.
They landed before Justice Ruth Sitati following an appeal, where they argued that they were not positively identified by the complaining parties.
In her ruling, Justice Sitati found them guilty anyway, adding that her court had been furnished with factual evidence, handing them a 25 year jail term each.
She said that the accused were well known to the victims.
Medical reports availed before the court proved that the complainants sustained injuries from machetes, metal rods, and clubs used by the convicts in the robberies, reports the Standard.
They have 14 days to appeal the ruling.
