Kenyan international Victor Wanyama is among 19 African players who have made it to the quarter-final of this year UEFA Champions League.
Wanyama's Tottenham made it to the quarters after thrashing German side Borrusia Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate. The midfielder recently returned to action after battling with knee injuries which kept him out for some time.
Wanyama played the final minute of regulation time for Spurs in their 3-0 Champions League win over Dortmund and was also on the bench for the return leg in Germany.
If Tottenham goes on to win the Champions league, Wanyama will become the second Kenyan to ever lift the coveted trophy, a feat only acclaimed by his older brother McDonald Mariga, who won it in 2010 with Inter Milan.
As the Africans prepare to go head-to-head later this month, we look at the number of Africans players who have made it in their respective teams.
Tottenham has two players, with Ivorian Serge Aurier joining Wanyama on the short list.
Liverpool has three players, Ajax eight, FC Porto three, while Manchester United, Man City, and Barcelona have one player each.
Juventus is the only team in the quarters that doesn't have an African player.
