Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose has appealed to Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama to clean up the payroll in the devolved unit before 2022.
Mr Mose claimed that several people were sneaked into the payroll illegally.
"The county wage bill is high because many people were sneaked into the payroll during the 2017 polls when elections were nearing. I am appealing to Governor Nyagarama to consider cleaning up the payroll before he retires in 2022," he said.
The Jubilee allied lawmaker insisted that Nyagarama should leave a legacy behind by ensuring all those people who were illegally employed are sacked, arrested and taken to court.
He said cartels won't hijack development in Nyamira County yet it's locals who are suffering in deep villages.
"Let the county boss come out clean and reveal the names of all workers who have been receiving salaries without doing any work.
"Even if it is his relatives, Nyagarama need to reveal the identities so that he can leave a legacy he will be remembered with as the first governor," he added.
The vocal lawmaker said development won't be realized if ghost workers won't be dealt with accordingly.
