At least 12 Cabinet secretaries who served in previous government have survived  President Uhuru Kenyatta's axe.

While unveiling the second batch of ministers, Uhuru also created a new position, Chief Administrative Secretary, who will be principals aides for ministers.

Conspicuously though, Deputy President William Ruto was missing from the State House event for the second time albeit in as many weeks.

Those who survived in first batch include Fred Matiang'i (Interior), Joe Mucheru (ICT), James Macharia (Transport), Charles Keter (Energy), Henry Rotich (Treasury) and Najib Balala of Tourism.

And on Friday, Uhuru retained Amina Mohamed (Education), Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture), Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution), Rachelle Omamo (Defense), Cecily Kariuki (Health) and Aden Mohammed for Industrialization.

The latest component means that Uhuru has exhausted naming his dream team given that the constitution allows only a maximum of 22 people to cabinet.
