Police have arrested at least 120 suspects in different shopping centres across Machakos County in connection with the killing of six guards in Mitaboni last Thursday.
Following a meeting with Governor Alfred Mutua and the county security team, a crackdown was launched in major shopping centres in the county.
County Commissioner Matilda Sakwa, on Saturday, said the search for suspects will continue until the culprits are put to book.
“We will not relent in the fight against crime, and police have been mobilised to intensify patrols especially at night to ensure residents are safe from all manner of threats,” Sakwa said.
At a press briefing in his office, Governor Mutua condemned the killings of the six security guards, which also left two guards seriously injured.
He also confirmed that the two suspects who were part of a gang that butchered the six guards in Mitaboni and Ngelan had been arrested.
“Security agencies have already arrested two men who are key suspects in the murder and are pursuing six more who have gone into hiding,” he said.
