Speaking on Sunday, Atwoli welcomed the move that came on Friday, telling any elected politician opposed to the same to pack up and leave in solidarity with the ex-CS.

He also hit out at Mumias East lawmaker Bernard Washiali who has been condemning President Uhuru Kenyatta for firing Echesa, telling him to resign if offended.

He accused the National Assembly Majority Whip and others sharing his view of misleading the President, daring him to resign from the position.

“If Washiali is man enough, let him quit his Majority Whip position in protest over the sacking of Echesa. Washiali and others who led Jubilee campaigns in Western should be ashamed for misleading the President,” said Atwoli as quoted by the Standard.

Atwoli also accused Washiali of auctioning the Luhya nation for selfish gains by campaigning for his reelection in the 2017 elections.

Washiali has since described the sacking as a blow to the Luhya community, as Echesa insists that he is yet to receive official communication on his ouster.

Addressing mourners in Matungu, Kakamega on Saturday, Echesa, however, accepted his fate, acknowledging that the Head of State possesses hiring and firing powers.
