A chief in Kisii is nursing injuries after a woman attacked him in a suspected love triangle.
The incident occurred on Monday at Nyanturago village, Nyaribari Masaba in Kisii County.
Nyanturago assistant chief Samuel Obunde was attacked by Peris Kemunto for allegedly trying to seduce her.
“I don’t know why the so called chief doesn’t want to leave me alone. I am happily married to my husband but he has been asking me to accept him as my mpango wa kando. I found him on the road and he said he wanted to offer me a cup of tea. I attacked him since I don’t want to betray my husband,” said Kemunto.
According to Kemunto, Obunde has been chasing after married women in the village.
“The chief is married but he is not satisfied with his wife. He will not use his capacity to spoil other people’s marriages,” she added.
Obunde, however, rubbished the claims saying the woman wants to tarnish his name after he destroyed illicit brews at her home.
“The claims that I have been chasing after her are false. I am a married man who respects my family. I have not been in good terms with her since I destroyed over 300 litres of illicit brews at her home,” said the chief.
He said intimidation and blackmail will not make him relent in the fight against illicit brews in the village.
