There was drama on Tuesday at Omoberege village in Gesusu, Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County after a middle-aged man received a thorough beating in public from his brother's wife.
Locals said trouble started when Francis Osoti stormed Teresa Nyaboke's house, a widow to protest her decision to cultivate a piece of land without his knowledge.
"Nyaboke's husband died 2 years ago and left behind 2 kids but, Osoti has been at loggerheads with the widow over a piece of land she was left with. Osoti under the influence of alcohol raided her house and demanded an explanation; why she cultivated the land without his permission," said Protus Onkundi.
Okundi said angered Nyaboke descended on Osoti with kicks and blows before members of the public rescued 'weak' Osoti.
Area local administrator Fred Mbaye said widows must be respected.
"Widows should be supported and not being mistreated. Osoti was lucky to have been rescued," said the chief.
Mr. Mbaye said Osoti was rushed to Nyamache hospital for treatment following the head, hands, left leg injuries he sustained during the attack.
