Detectives are now camping at the coast where the second suspect, believed to have been in company of Joseph Irungu, is soliciting protection from witchdoctors.

Evidence gathered by detectives from CCTV cameras along Dennis Pritt Road indicates that Irungu was driving in company of a mysterious man from Monica's apartment during the fateful day.

And police insists that the mysterious man could be the one hiding car keys, clothes, knife and other items believed to have been stolen from Monica's apartment.

“Preliminary investigations have established that Irungu was seen in the company of another person near the crime scene,” said the police in an affidavit.

“The identity of the person seen with Irungu has yet to be established but the investigating team is following leads,” they said.

On Thursday, a court sitting in Kiambu released Brian Kassaine, a neighbour to Jacque Maribe and Irungu after he agreed to be witness in the murder.

Ms. Maribe, who has also been dragged to the murder case, is expected to take plea on Monday over Monica's murder after the court ordered she undergo medical assessment.

Mr. Irungu, the key suspect in the murder, is currently locked at Industrial Area prison and will also take plea on Monday.
