In 2016 after some leaders from Ukambani decamped to Jubilee from Wiper party, a kind of enmity developed between them and the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The rebels even claimed to be ready for a by-election to defend their seats after decamping.
Then later in October 2016, Kalonzo was asked to tender his apology to former Mwingi MP Joe Mutambu.
Mutambu who with a group of other leaders had decamped to Jubilee wanted Kalonzo to apologize for referring to him as a thief.
The ex-MP who spoke at a function dubbed 'Matuu Declaration' said Kalonzo insulted him during the latter's political rally at Kitengela town in Kajiado County.
"I'm giving you the notice to offer a public apology to me due to your remarks. Failure to which I will give my lawyer directions to take you to court," Mutambu said.
Mutambu gave Kalonzo a 48-hour ultimatum to apologize, failure to which he would take action against him.
He made it clear that if Kalonzo failed to adhere, he would mobilize the three Ukambani counties to pitch a camp outside Kalonzo's home for him to substantiate his claims.
Surprisingly, Kalonzo failed to give into Mutambu's demands and even failed to comment about the 'threat'.
Mutambu never sued Kalonzo as he had threatened, an act that left confusion on many.
