Officers from the Flying Squad unit have arrested four suspects over alleged vehicle theft.
The suspects who are residents of Ndumberi in Kiambu were ambushed on Thursday at a private house in Ngong area, Nairobi
The four were identified by the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) as Zachariah Maina, Stephen Ndung'u, Francis Kiruthi and James Kamau.
Their arrest was occasioned by an intelligence-led operation where the vehicle was reported stolen at Central Police Station area on April 7, 2019, was recovered.
"The colour of the Toyota Prado V8 had already been changed from White to Black with most of its original parts removed for sale and replaced with new ones. Initial investigations revealed that the machine was to be sold to an unsuspecting buyer at Kshs. 6.5M with its original KBX 449A registration number plates replaced with KCL 390 P," noted DCI on the official Facebook page.
Furthermore, DCI revealed the suspects have been using the private house they were nabbed in as their hiding place during crime operation. They also use the place to dismantle the stolen motor vehicles and later sell as spare parts.
"They have all been placed in lawful custody pending arraignment to court," added the post.
