John Walter Owino is serving his first term as Awendo constituency, Member of Parliament (MP) after being elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket last year.
He is one of the MPs elected on the back drop of the ODM wave in many parts of Nyanza, after emerging victorious in the party’s primaries.
Before venturing into politics last year, the legislature held positions in various security companies in the country.
In fact, he still serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gillys Security and Investigation Service Company.
He has held that position since 2003 when he started running the company.
Before then, he served as a marketing manager at another security firm known as Skyhawk Services Limited between 2001 and 2002.
He was also a Human Resource Assistant at the Securicor Kenya Limited, an indication that the leader has always had interests in matters security.
The MP is currently a student at Daystar University, taking Bachelors degree in Business Management.
Unlike most of his colleagues in Luo Nyanza, he is not very vocal.
