Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi are now finding themselves in a tug of war as each eyes the seat of power come the next general elections.

However, according to Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, the simmering political differences between the two firebrand Governors risks dividing the region which may dim its hopes in the 2022 political bargaining table.

“The moment we stand having this kind of division, we lose our common stand. The two Governors must work together for this region’s benefit in 2022,” said the lawmaker.

Both Joho and Kingi have declared interest to vie for President in 2022.

However, each one of them has taken a different route with the Mombasa Governor keen to use ODM as his political vehicle.

Kingi is rooting for the formation of Coastal party, an idea which Joho has not embraced.
