An elected MP from Gusii region allied to opposition NASA has weighed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's presidential candidature after Samuel Arama, Nakuru Town West MP said Matiang'i is suitable to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka said it is not the right time for some leaders to start pushing Matiang'i to vie for the country's top seat.  

"This is not the time we should start giving pressure to people to vie for elective posts but, it is time to  serve the electorates since 2022 is far," he said. 

He reiterated that some individuals who an hidden agenda to achieve by pushing others to vie for top seats in this country. 

"Kenyans won't listen to selfish leaders intending to have others be elected to some posts so that they can gain. I am calling upon elected leaders to focus on service delivery and not early 2022 politics," he stated. 

The lawmaker warned that early politics will hinder development across Gusii region. 

"Some of us may lose seats in 2022 if we dwell much on 2022 politics and boycott service delivery," he added.
