Detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime on Wednesday rescued 25 Burundian women believed to be victims of human trafficking.
The women were being held hostage in a home located in Gwa-Kairu, Kiambu County.
The detectives who were acting on a tip-off raided the home which is said to belong to Nicholas Mugambi, where they found the Burundians being held by three women pending transit to Asian countries.
According to a tweet by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the three suspected human traffickers have been identified as Mercy Kaaia, Lydia Wairimu and Susan Nyambura.
"Detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime acting on intelligence raided the home of Mr Nicholas Mugambi Waigwa and rescued 25 female victims of human trafficking all #Burundian," read the tweet in part.
"The victims all aged between 24 years and 33 years were being held hostage at the said home in Gwa-Kairu area in Kiambu County," added the DCI.
This comes a month after two other Burundian nationals were rescued by officers attached to the DCI as they were preparing to travel to the Middle East.
A similar incident was reported in November last year where 79 foreigners aged between 19 and 45 were rescued from a human trafficking ring at Mlango Kubwa area in Nairobi's Starehe Constituency.
The victims included a Congolese, three Uganda nationals and 75 Comorans.
