Even after resurfacing on Thursday, Uhuru kept mum on 16% VAT as Kenyans continue to carry burden despite court order advising contrary.

And the ODM Treasurer said Uhuru should come out clean instead of applying double standards.

"This country have laws which govern it. It's quite strange that court orders are being violated while the Head of State is silent.

"He should speak about this thorny issue or resign. We cannot continue shouldering burden caused by his government," he said adding that treasury should exhaust other revenue collection channels.

For weeks now, hiked fuel prices has brought about escalation of basic commodities in other sectors.

Parliament had amended the finance bill that abolished the proposed taxation of fuel but Uhuru is yet to assent to the bill.
