Ruto, according to Nandi Senator Samson Chera will hold one of the meetings with elected leaders from the vote-rich region before holding another one where he will meet members of the Kalenjin Council of Elders.

The Senator told a local daily, Taifa Leo that the region is keen on ensuring the deputy president bags majority support ahead of the election in which kenyans will elect the country's fifth president. There will be a series other meetings thereafter.

"We have been meeting regularly and we discuss different issues affecting the region. We have to remain united as a region," the Senator said.

Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny who also confirmed the planned meetings said there may be no guarantee that Ruto will get support from Jubilee and it is therefore upon himself to roll out his campaign machinery as he seeks to build alliances with like-minded leaders from other regions of the country.

Ruto is facing a daunting task to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 as some leaders from the Central region have rejected his bid to become Kenya's fifth president.
